I recently did an engagement session in Downtown Austin with my sweet clients, Samantha and Daniel. This sessions was definitely one of those ones where I get in my car afterwards, and rush home because I’m so excited to edit them! I love it when I get to work with couples that trust my vision completely.
Almost every single one of my couples tells me that they have never had professional photos done before (news flash – I don’t expect you to!!!) – and they also go on to tell me that they are “awkward” in photos and need direction. Well, one of the best parts about hiring a professional photographer, is that you can throw those worries out of the window! I am here to help guide you guys feel comfortable and confident during your session. During sessions I will tell you guys how to pose, and give you prompts to act out together. This way, you will look and feel the most comfortable during our time together. You can also feel good knowing I’m getting only the flattering shots of you.
Working with Sam and Daniel was so enjoyable. Every time I gave them a pose or a prompt, they totally went with it and made it their own. They didn’t even second guess me!! Which sometimes I think is so funny, because I could probably tell you to do the chicken dance just for fun! 😉
On a real note, it makes me so genuinely happy when my clients trust my vision for a pose or photo idea. Allowing me to get creative and spew my ideas off to you, only has a positive impact on your overall results. I find that the more I’m able to get creative and feel comfortable expressing my ideas to you, the better and more diverse your overall gallery will turn out!!
As you can see in these first set of photos, there is beautiful greenery surrounding Sam and Daniel, while also showing off the beautiful cityscape in the distance.
We began our session at Auditorium Shores, which believe it or not, is right in the middle of downtown!
We were able to park in a parking lot and take a very short walk to this gorgeous little beach area right on the water, with an unobstructed view of the city behind us. There were also restrooms nearby for them to change outfits or freshen up. This really adds a positive impact to the client experience.
You know what they say about southern hospitality!! And even though Austin has a huge population of transplants, it still remains such a positive and welcoming city. I can’t even tell you how many times people walked by us while we were taking these photos and congratulated Sam and Daniel on their engagement!! It definitely gave us something to laugh and smile about, and naturally had a great effect on their photos. Also gotta give credit to all the dogs we got to pet along the way!
After we got done shooting at Auditorium Shores, we jumped in the car and drove 3 minutes to the most awesome parking garage rooftop where we got to finish up their engagement session!
We only spent an hour together, and we were able to get two very cool, very diverse looks in their photos. Having everything be so close together makes it so much more reasonable and efficient when you are trying to decide between a city or a nature vibe! Austin really allows you to have both, in such a close proximity.
